Rotarian Clyde Melick had the pleasure of introducing Waxahachie High School principal, Dr. Al Benskin, as a special guest of the club. Each month Rotary honors an outstanding student from each of our public high schools as Student of the Month. Dr. Benskin had the honor of introducing the WHS Student of the Month Award for May 2017, senior Caymee Bigham.

Caymee, the daughter of Brett and Tresa Bigham, is involved in many different clubs and organizations at WHS. She is well deserving of this special honor, as she is a true leader at WHS. Throughout her high school career, Caymee has been very involved in her favorite club, FFA. She has spent a great deal of her time the last four years on various competitions and events involving FFA.

Caymee has also been involved in Interact, cross country and basketball. During her cross country career, Caymee ran for the Waxahachie Cross Country team for four years, where she qualified for the regional meet every year. Currently, Caymee holds the girls 5k school record.

In basketball, Caymee played with the team for the first three years of high school, where she moved up to varsity level the last two years.

Besides her extra curricular activities, Caymee has remained at the top of her class scholastically throughout her high school career. She is very excited to attend the University of Texas in Austin next year where she will study nursing and possibly go on to medical research. However, she is leaving her options open as long as she is in the medical field.

It is an honor for Rotary to acknowledge such an outstanding student as Caymee with a plaque with her name engraved on it. This plaque will hang in the halls of Waxahachie High School for many years to come.
